- Is OptimalLayout free?
- Yes. The free plan covers most home and small-shop projects: up to 10 unique panel types and one sheet type per calculation, with PDF export. The Pro plan removes those limits and adds cloud storage, branded PDFs and an ad-free experience.
- Do I need to create an account?
- No account is needed to use the optimizer. You only need to sign in if you want to save projects to the cloud.
- What units do you support?
- Millimetres and inches. You can switch the unit in the optimizer at any time.
- What kerf should I use?
- The default is 3 mm, which matches most panel and table saws. Use 2.2–2.5 mm for a track saw, or 1 mm for a band/jigsaw. See our kerf guide for details.
- Does the optimizer handle grain direction?
- Yes. You can lock individual panels to a grain direction so the nester won't rotate them. Unlocked parts are free to rotate for better yield.
- Can I print or export the cutting list?
- Yes. The PDF export includes the cutting diagram, a printable cut list table, or both — your choice.
- Is my data private?
- Calculations run entirely in your browser. Only saved projects (Pro) are stored on our server, and only you can access them.
